ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Feb. 13 (PIA) -- Police officers of Rizal will be giving out free candies and roses at checkpoints all over the province this Valentines’ Day, February 14 as an image building activity and to promote the campaign against date rape.
Police Inspector Ana Lisa Reyes of the Philippine National Police – Rizal Police Community Relations Office said the activity aims to build the public image of the police force in the province. Inspector Reyes also added that cases of date rape or even unwanted pregnancies spike up during the Valentines’ season.
Attached to the giveaways are small cards with a warning on date rape and the mobile number of the Rizal Provincial Police Office.
Candies will be given to high school students and roses will be given to lady passengers and commuters at checkpoints.
“We would also like to show people the lighter side of the police force through giving small tokens like candies and flowers on Valentines’ Day,” said Inspector Reyes.
