1st bike competition, part of Sorteo festival 2013

CARMONA, Cavite, Feb. 15 (PIA) -- The Road Bikers of Carmona and the Carmona Knight Bikers joined hands in sponsoring the first ever “1st Sorteo Bikefest Competition” on Monday, February 18, as part of the week-long celebration of the Sorteo festival 2013 which will start today until Friday next week, February 22.

Sorteo Festival is a century-old tradition celebrated every three years to show thanksgiving to the blessings provided by the arable rice fields. It is famous for the “lottery of lands” where the winner is given an opportunity to cultivate a piece of land for the next three years.

The 1st Sorteo Bikefest Competition organizers Mong Purification and Cesar Manarin explained that the competition will have five categories namely: Elite for ages 18 to 36, Master A for 49 years old and below, Master B for 50 years old and above, Women’s all ages and the Open to all categories.

A P30,000 cash prize including trophies, and medals will be given to the new racers from Carmona. Participants will circle around the designated routes in approximately a 10 kilometers distance. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite/Carmona PI
